Malba Tahan

Malba Tahan's full name is quite a mouthful - Ali Yezzid Izz-Edin ibn-Salim Hanak Malba Tahan - so I'll just stick to Tahan. And here's the funny thing about him - he didn't exist! The character was created by Júlio César de Mello e Souza, a Brazilian author, who built a whole story for Tahan - he (Tahan) was born in 1885 in a village called Muzalit (that probably doesn't exist), lived in England, Cairo and Constantinople and then travelled all around Europe and Asia. Well, this is one writer who wasn't all there! But, he "wrote" a wonderful book called The Man Who Counted and you can say with absolute certainty that it exists.
